Drake Canadian Rapper & Superstar from Toronto

Drake first started his career playing th role of Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi: The Next Generation, in 2001. His role ended in 2009 after his character graduated from Degrassi. After appearing in 138 episodes and playing in the movie Degrassi Spring Break movie. During his acting career Drake released many mixtapes that was made available on his myspace such as  Room For Improvement,  in 2006 and in 2007 Comeback Season that included his hit single featuring Trey Songz ”Replacement Girl”. He soon became the first unnasigned artist to be featured on Beat that same year.

In 2008, Lil`Wayne was given some of Drake`s music from Rap-A-Lot founder J. Prince`s son, Jas Prince, immediately Drake was to fly to Houston to meet with Lil`Wayne. During this time Drake and Lil`Wayne recorded a few songs together including ”Ransom” and ”I Want This Forever”, the original version and remix Drake`s song ”Brand New”. He soon became part of Lil`Wayne`s crew, Young Money but still unasigned.

In 2009, he released a third mixtape entitled So far Gone, for free download on his blog site October`s Very Own. It received 2,000 downloads over 2 hours and eventually made it`s way to various radio-stations. The mixtape`s success was due to his singles, ”Best I Ever Had” and ”Successful”. Therefore, it was released as a a seven songs EP album in stores and and MTV named it ”The hottest mixtape off 2009 (so far)”. During that time he collaborated with many other artists in their songs such as DJ Khaled, Young Money, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Young Jeezy, Mary J.Blige,  Timbaland, Birdman, Trey Songz,  and Jamie Foxx. He also did some writing for  Jazz Cartier, Bishop  Brigante and Dr.Dre. So Far Gone debuted at number 6 on  top 200 Billboard and sold over 40o, 000 copies in the United States. On April 18, 2010 Drake won Rap Recording of the Year at the 2010 Juno Awards.

On June 15, 2010, Drake’s album Thank Me Later will be released which includes his hit single ”Over” and his second new single ” Find Your Love”.
