Libanais dans les collectivités canadiennes | Lebanese Canadian Community | الجالية اللبنانية الكندية

L’immigration libanais a commencé en 1882, en raison de situations à l’intérieur du Liban et des lois restrictives sur ces immigrants canadiens étaient de 90% chrétienne. Ces immigrants étaient pour la plupart des migrants économiques qui cherchent une plus grande prospérité dans le Nouveau Monde.

Ces dernières années, ce modèle a changé, et un grand nombre de Libanais musulmans et druzes sont venus au Canada. Lois sur l’immigration ont été libéralisées après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l’immigration et régulièrement augmenté dans les années 1950 et 1960.

Le plus grand afflux de Libanais pendant la guerre civile libanaise, et cette période a vu un certain nombre de Liban mouvement instruite plus riche et le meilleur au Canada pour fuir les violences dans leur pays d’origine. Le Canada est le seul pays occidental (hormis l’Australie) à mettre en place des programmes spéciaux pour permettre aux Libanais de plus facilement venir au Canada et mis en place un bureau à Chypre pour traiter les réfugiés libanais.

Beaucoup de Libanais parlent français et contrairement à la plupart des autres groupes d’immigrants préfèrent s’installer dans les pays francophones de Montréal anglophone de Toronto et de Vancouver. Environ la moitié de la communauté libano-canadienne est situé dans la région de Montréal, et la plupart des libano-canadiens, en particulier les organisations religieuses, sont basés dans cette ville.

Lebanese immigration began in 1882, because of situations within Lebanon and restrictive Canadian laws these immigrants were 90% Christian. These immigrants were mostly economic migrants seeking greater prosperity in the New World.

In more recent years this pattern has changed, and large numbers of Lebanese Muslims and Druze have come to Canada. Immigration laws were liberalized after the Second World War, and immigration steadily increased in the 1950s and 1960s.

The greatest influx of Lebanese was during the Lebanese Civil War, and this period saw a number of Lebanon’s wealthiest and best educated move to Canada to flee the violence in their homeland. Canada was the only western country (besides Australia) to set up special programs to enable Lebanese to more easily come to Canada and it set up an office in Cyprus to process Lebanese refugees.

Many Lebanese speak French and unlike most other immigrant groups preferred to settle in francophone Montreal than anglophone Toronto and Vancouver. About half the Lebanese-Canadian community is located in and around Montreal, and most Lebanese-Canadian organizations, especially religious ones, are based in that city.

There are substantial Lebanese populations in Vancouver, Halifax, Windsor, Calgary, Toronto. Lebanese-Canadians are one of the largest ethnic groups in Ottawa, Edmonton and Charlottetown.

هناك السكان اللبنانيين كبيرة في فانكوفر، هاليفاكس، وندسور، كالجاري، تورونتو. اللبنانية الكنديين واحدة من أكبر المجموعات العرقية في أوتاوا، ادمونتون وشارلوت تاون.

Malik Shaheed & Jennifer Meade Vocalist Performance Masterclass Saturday November 3, 2012

TV Host/marketing branding consultant, Malik Shaheed and singer/songwriter/vocal coach Jennifer Meade will be hosting a vocalist performance masterclass Saturday November 3, 2012, 10 am – 2 pm. Participants will learn Branding and Marketing strategies for artists. Vocal performance, secrets and techniques of professional singers. Hosted by, the vocal workshop will be from 10 am – 11 am and Jennifer will be discussing vocal tips and vocal techniques. Malik Shaheed will be hosting the branding workshop from 11 am – 12 pm, where he will explain how to market and brand yourself as an artist. From 12:30 pm – 2 pm, participants will be given an opportunity to perform 3 minutes in front of their panellists. Who will offer insights and tips on performance, stage presence and marketibility.
